Established in the summer of 2020, First Thought Care Services was founded by Jack in response to the care and support staff shortage in the South West region caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Jack, the owner of the company, brings personal experience with mental health issues to his work, having been sectioned twice as a child.
Against all odds, Jack has turned his childhood dream into reality and is committed to providing quality care services that prioritise safety, support, and respect for every individual. First Thought Care Services, we collaborate with local authorities and we offer both residential and day services.
We have been registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) since January 17th 2023, allowing us to provide personalised care services to individuals in our home. To learn more about our services, visit our dedicated Care Services section or Referrals section.
Presently, we have opened a new branch in Hereford where we continue our mission to help and support the ones that need our services. We collaborate with various local authorities, including Gloucestershire County Council, Herefordshire Council, Bath and North-East Somerset, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and private clients.
Choose First Thought Care Services for a professional and compassionate approach to care that fosters a nurturing and supportive environment for individuals to thrive!
We encourage all of our staff to take managed, thought out risks. By doing this, we are able to strive to go the extra mile wherever possible.
We earn the trust placed in us by insisting on quality and striving to get the basics right every time: safety, confidentiality, professional and managerial integrity, accountability, dependable service and good communication. We encourage feedback, to enable us to learn from our mistakes and build on our successes.
We recognise that by working together, we are able to achieve greater things. We put our Service Users at the heart of every decision that we make and work as a wider team, alongside many other organisations. We put the needs of service users and communities before organisational boundaries.
We have this mentality of continuous improvement and development of new products and services. Employees are always looking for ways to make our customers’ experiences better and better, while also improving the efficiency of our daily work.
A few ways we empower our team members to innovate is through the encouragement to be persistent, take risks, and make mistakes.
We value each person as an individual, respect their aspirations and commitments in life, and seek to understand their priorities, needs, abilities and limits. We take what others have to say seriously. We are honest about our point of view and what we can and cannot do.
I have worked in the care sector for several years and have also managed several services. I grew up with both parents being deaf and had a stint where I was the service user. I decided to use my knowledge and experience to give back and help hear the voices of those that may rely on others for a care service. I have my Level 5 Leadership and Management in Adult Care and am currently training to be a BSL Interpreter too. I am a qualified H&SC Trainer, as well as a senior Team Teach Trainer.
I have been working in Health & Social Care for 18 years. I started out my career as a support worker. I have worked for the NHS and the private sector I have stayed mainly in Mental Health & Learning disabilities settings throughout my career.
I believe family is everything, and helping the ones that need it. That's what First Thought Care Services is all about.
I have worked as a part-time support worker during my Postgraduate Studies at the peak of the pandemic and I saw the struggles people went through which made me more motivated to help. After I completed my second master's degree in Management with Human Resources, I decided to focus my career in Health & Social Care, I knew that was the sector I wanted to go into to ensure that we recruit and manage the best of hands to care for service users. Coming from working previously in the Management team of 3 healthcare companies. I began my journey with FTCS recently and I'm excited for the future with the business.
Finishing my Psychology Degree in 2021, I became a Clinical and Therapy Assistant, within an SEN Residential School. Within my role at FTCS, I also head the care team within our 'Lakes' living provision. Within my expertise, I lead the SEN provisions of the organisation. I am undertaking my Level 5 Health Leadership and Management in Adult Care. I am now heading into our exciting new Hereford Branch to continue my role there. I am also one of the PBS practitioners within the organisation.
Heading the care team within our 'Forest' living provision, I thrive from a challenge. I enjoy being on the front line and helping our support workers ensure that we are providing an outstanding service and enabling them to live as independently as possible. I have an extensive background in Children's care, including a qualified Nursery Nurse and achieving my Level 3 in Counselling. I am currently undertaking my Level 5 Health Leadership and Management in Adult Care. I am also one of the PBS practitioners within the organisation.
Beginning with the company in 2022, I began my role as a Support Worker. I came from a care background, working with those who lived with a Learning Disability, and associated behaviours that may challenge. I was then promoted to a Team Leader within FTCS, showing my ambition to provide a 5* service. I then progressed and applied for the new opening for a Service Manager. I achieved this, through sheer hard work and determination. I too am one of the PBS practitioners within the organisation.
I've worked in care for over 20 years. My main focus is being in mental health, and I enjoy meeting people and making a difference. I love a good challenge to achieve quality care. In order for every individual to achieve their aims and goals. I value everyone that I come into contact with. I am based in our Hereford branch, doing my role as a Service Manager.

Having had work within the caring sector for a number of years, particularly within recruitment. I wanted to find a new challenge where I am not only recruiting the best candidates there are, but also spending the time with our service users getting to know them and seeing staff flourish and grow alongside them.
Within my career, I started in the beauty industry; qualifying as a Masseuse. I then began my career within the care industry around 3 years ago. I fell in love with my role and have since worked within all sectors. I love to meet new people and engage with others from all walks of life!
What a great way to be able to merge my caring nature and maintenance experience and skills! I am the Maintenance manager for FTCS and manage several properties across the South-West. The best bit about my job, is being able to see our young people help out with painting, decorating and even mowing the lawn!
Having recently joined First Thought Care Services, as a Maintenance Support, I enjoy how varied my days can be. One day I can be painting the walls, with the YP's and another I could be helping a young adult mow the lawn. This is my first position, connected with the care sector.
I have recently joined First Thought Care Services, as a Maintenance Support after a varied career. This is my first position, connected with the care sector, although I am often seen displaying my Art Skills amongst the Young People that FTCS supports!
